JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. (WJHL) — A Jonesborough man faces an aggravated domestic assault charge for allegedly sticking a machete in a woman’s chest after they argued over dogs Sunday night.

Austin Asher, 24, reportedly admitted to pulling the weapon on the victim at a residence on Brethren Church Road, according to a Washington County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) news release.

Deputies responded to a home on Brethren Church around 10 p.m. Sunday. Asher had fled the residence, according to the alleged victim, who, along with others who live there, reported “Asher has threatened her in the past.”

He returned while deputies were at the location. The machete was recovered at the scene and the victim positively identified it, the release says.

The WCSO reported that Asher admitted to pulling the machete on the woman and pointing it at her.

Asher was set for an initial appearance Monday.

Did he actually touch the woman with the machete or not? If not, he should not be charged with aggravated assault. This is a STUPID ass law! This charge should be repealed and retroacted
