The event, offered to youth ages fourteen through twenty, will be covering information about a career in law enforcement, specifically traffic stops and 10-codes. Participants, called Explorers, will learn about how police work to keep traffic flow efficient and safe, and how radio communication factors into traffic safety. Explorers will also have the opportunity to work a simulation of a traffic stop and correspond on the radio.

According to a post on Oxford PD's Facebook page, the Explorer Youth Night will provide young people with career-based experiences and mentorship in order to teach life skills. September's Explorer Topic is The Basic Police Academy. The Oxford Police Explorer post intends to explore vital topics such as positive character traits, citizen, and leadership.

The event is Thursday, September 26, from 6-7 p.m. Those interested in participating should contact 662.232.2400.
