Coastal areas in Southern California will experience dense fog and low clouds through much of the week, while inland temperatures remain warm and above normal. According to the National Weather Service, the marine layer is currently between 800 and 1200 feet, with thick fog reducing visibility to under a mile in many coastal and valley areas.

A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect for the Central Coast and the Santa Ynez Valley until 10 a.m. today, where visibility has dropped to 1/4 mile or less. Forecasters expect conditions to improve by late morning, with clearing by 11 a.m., although coastal areas from the Central Coast to Ventura County may see minimal beach clearing throughout the afternoon.

Despite the fog near the coast, inland areas will feel a significant temperature increase. Highs are expected to reach the mid-80s to mid-90s in most areas away from the coast, with the hottest locations nearing 100 degrees. Coastal temperatures will remain near normal due to the moderating influence of the marine layer.
