The Pittsburgh Steelers secured a 20-10 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 3, largely thanks to a once again dominant defensive performance that stifled the Chargers after an early second-quarter setback.

Despite trailing 10-7, Pittsburgh’s defense clamped down, not allowing a drive over 32 yards for the remainder of the game.

The game took a crucial turn late in the third quarter when Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert was sacked by Steelers linebacker Elandon Roberts. Herbert, who had been questionable heading into the game due to health concerns, left with an injury and did not return, sealing the Chargers' offensive struggles.

From that point on, Pittsburgh’s defense dictated the pace, recording five sacks and limiting Los Angeles to just 168 total yards on 10 drives.

While Pittsburgh did not force any turnovers , the defense showed exceptional consistency and resilience. Led by T.J. Watt, the unit allowed just 10 first downs and held the Chargers to 3-of-11 on third-down conversions.

The pressure up front kept Los Angeles from finding any rhythm, with Watt and the Steelers’ front seven making life difficult for the Chargers offense all game long.

The Steelers’ early struggles were erased as the defense tightened its grip, with no drive for Los Angeles gaining more than 32 yards after their second-quarter score.

The dominant defensive showing provided the stability Pittsburgh needed to close out the game, with the offense doing just enough to maintain the lead and secure the win.

As Pittsburgh looks ahead to a Week 4 matchup with the Indianapolis Colts, they can rest assured knowing that their defense is once again among the league’s toughest. Led by Watt, the Steelers will aim to neutralize Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson, a dual-threat who has shown the ability to make plays both through the air and on the ground.
