The Las Vegas Raiders changed things up on offense against the Carolina Panthers. Things haven't been working. Through two games, the first two of the season, the Raiders only had one good quarter of offensive football so far, and that was against the Baltimore Ravens. So, they tried new things.

No, the scheme was still the same. The playcalling was still the same from Luke Getsy, and it was all still very bad on that side of the ball. But, the Raiders tried different personnel and threw some players in different situations that they maybe haven't done yet. They also pulled some players, too, like Dylan Parham for Jackson Powers-Johnson, as Antonio Pierce mentioned after the game, that was part of the game plan.

But one thing that won't be talked about a ton is how little Zamir White played. The starting running back has yet to have a great game. And, not all of that is his fault. Last season, when he had those big games, he was in a completely different run scheme that complimented his play style much better. This scheme does not, and the offensive line has not been good either.

So, they pulled him last game. He still played here and there, but the offensive snap counts show that they went in a different direction.

Raiders snap counts on offense vs. Panthers

When you look at the snap counts from the Raiders' big-time loss to the Panthers, vs. their games against the Los Angeles Chargers and the Baltimore Ravens, there is a big change. Every running back on the active gameday roster played more than White, who started the game.

White only played 14 snaps and had 10 carries. Alexander Mattison played 28 snaps, the most, and Ameer Abdullah played 22 snaps. Between Mattison and Abdullah, the snaps were pretty shared. But White played very little.

This could have been a thing they did for just this game, or maybe they are noticing that this scheme just isn't for White. Mattison, on the other hand, has done well. He has scored in every game this season, whether it be by pass or run. He's helping the offense more, so we could see him as the starter next week against the Cleveland Browns.
