Corp. America is full of subjective and judgemental rhetoric complemented by pretty buzz words like collaborate. The seemingly opposing perspective is that people should be more assertive; take charge, lead; don't wait for others to jump on board and blah blah blah. The bottom line is who likes you and wants you to succeed and win. I lived it for 40 plus yrs. on both sides of the proverbial table.

Work is transactional. Somebody has to lead. Relationships with coworkers is a nice bonus but not expected.
