“The victim was a beloved figure in the Greenburgh community and her life was senselessly taken when the defendant chose to get behind the wheel of his car and drive while impaired,” Westchester County District Attorney Mimi Rocah said in a statement Monday.

“We hope this prosecution and sentence helps [Stephanie] Kovourias’s loved ones begin the process of healing from this tragedy,” the statement said.

Prosecutors said Sanchez struck and killed Kovourias, 65, in Hartsdale on Aug. 26, 2023 — not long after a cop in Scarsdale questioned him for a minor fender-bender but let him go with a warning.

The DA’s office said Sanchez left the scene after striking Kovourias, but police recovered the license plate from his Dodge Ram at the intersection and traced it to Sanchez, who was found stopped in traffic in White Plains.
