Isle council sets preliminary levy, with 5% increase

The Isle City Council approved the 2025 preliminary levy at its Sept. 10 meeting, setting the maximum increase at 5%. The vote was unanimous in favor.

The council has conducted several work sessions to develop the 2025 budget and levy, including a budget session that night with public works, the police department and fire department.

The preliminary levy is the maximum increase that can be established. The council will continue work sessions prior to each monthly council meeting and can potentially reduce that percentage. The final levy must be approved and submitted to the state by mid-December.

Also at the Sept. 10 meeting, the council reviewed an amended ordinance that will govern cannabis sales in the city. The council had determined unanimously at the August meeting to issue one license total for the city, and that will go the municipal off-sale store.

The next regular Isle council meeting is set for Tuesday, Oct. 8, at 6 p.m.
