Tony Romo may have mistakenly credited Jim Nantz with an interception, but he’s still good for a prediction — or two  — any given Sunday.

That gaffe aside, Romo’s lure as an analyst has wavered in recent years.

His once infectious enthusiasm and impressive ability to predict plays before they happen seemingly ran dry at times . But during Sunday afternoon’s Steelers-Chargers broadcast on CBS , Romostradamus was back.

With Pittsburgh looking to reach an unlikely 3-0 thanks to the prowess of its defense, the Steelers have Nick Herbig — and Romo — to thank for Sunday’s 20-10 win. The former Dallas Cowboys quarterback turned NFL on CBS analyst sniffed ou t a blitz from a mile away.

Romo circled Herbig on the telestrator, noting that the Steelers backup outside linebacker would get a one-on-one matchup against Chargers left tackle Rashawn Slater. Of course, the ever-dangerous TJ Watt would line up on the left side, opposite rookie right tackle Joe Alt.

“…Herbig step up big on the top,” Romo says. “He’s gonna get one-on-one matchups consistently right there against the tackle.”

    That he did.

“That’s Slater. Second and 10, there he is! And Slater was able to recover it,” said Nantz. “Tony, you were all over it.”

Despite the occasional misstep, Romo proved once again why he remains a key figure in the NFL broadcasting landscape. His knack for deconstructing plays and anticipating defensive tactics adds depth and intrigue to the broadcast and will forever be invaluable insight to the viewer, regardless of criticism .
