Farnhamville shocked over death of 17-year-old

FARNHAMVILLE, Iowa — On Sunday law enforcement agencies received a report of a young woman missing in Farnhamville. The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office began investigating and on Monday morning the body of a deceased female was found .

Law enforcement has not identified the body found. A male suspect has been detained in connection to the 17-year-old’s death. Police said there is no threat to the public.

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, Iowa State Patrol, Greene County Sheriff’s Department, and the Webster County Sheriff’s Department are assisting in the investigation.

The Farnhamville Fire Department also served as a law enforcement command center for the investigation.

“I woke up, in the streets, in the park was clogged with police cars,” said Jerry Everhart, who lives in Farnhamville by the city park. “Highway Patrol, DCI, even three to four counties around here all there, local police, everything we just saw it this morning.”

Everhart said he had no idea what was going on.

“One officer came to my door, wanting to know if I had any cameras, I didn’t. They said they was a missing girl and that’s all he would say.”

Everhart said this is normally a quiet small town.

“I’ve been here 57 years, this is the first time anything like this happened,” said Everhart. “Kind of a shock yeah I didn’t know what was going on, something happened over there, but I didn’t know what it was.”
