A Kansas City woman accused of stealing more than 1,000 candles from a Bath & Body Works has been charged with felony theft, court documents show.

Destiny M. Moore, 25, allegedly stole 1,030 candles from the Country Club Plaza location of the fragrance and bath supply giant, located at 4705 Broadway Blvd., according to documents filed in Jackson County court over the weekend.

The candles had a combined value of just under $26,000, according to court records.

Kansas City police and store employees said that Moore stole candles on 28 different trips to the store, according to court documents, and that she took 1,030 candles between March 28 and Saturday. Store employees also captured photo or video footage of the alleged thefts on 27 of 28 occasions, court documents show.

Moore and up to three accomplices, including an unnamed relative, allegedly stole as many as 75 and as few as three candles at a time, according to court documents. Moore allegedly acted alone in August, court records show, sometimes while wearing a blonde wig.

Moore and one of her accomplices, who was not named in court documents, were arrested on Saturday after attempting to walk out of the store without paying for 30 candles, valued at $694.50 total, according to court documents.

Moore was convicted on separate felony theft charges earlier this month, and was also previously charged with receiving stolen property, according to court records.

The pair are also suspects in other large-scale thefts which have occurred in Kansas City in the last six months, according to police.

Moore was held on a $20,000 bond and has been assigned an electronic monitoring device, according to court documents. Moore appeared in Jackson County court Monday ,where she was banned from entering any Bath & Body Works store in the future.

Missouri is the ninth worst state for retail theft loss, with an average of $218 worth of stolen goods per capita, according to Forbes.
