Charles City County High School student charged for making a threat against the school

According to WRIC 8 News, a 14-year-old student at Charles City County High School in Charles City County, Virginia has been charged and is in custody after allegedly making a threat against the school.

About the threat

A Charles City County High School teacher reported the threat to the school’s administration on Wednesday, September 11, 2024. According to the Charles City County Sheriff's Office, there was an increased law enforcement presence at the school the next day.

Charles City County Public Schools and the Charles City County Sheriff’s Office launched an investigation.

After the threat was investigated, it was determined to have originated from the 14-year-old student at the school. The student was charged with one count of making a threat of death or bodily injury towards a public school.

The student will be held in secure detention until the upcoming court appearance.
