(This story has been updated with new information.)

WRENTHAM A Wrentham District Court judge has ruled that a Medway man charged with repeatedly raping a girl earlier this year is a danger to the public.

Medway police arrested Luis Rodrigo Lema-Pomavilla on Sept. 17 at his 30 Wellington St. home, according to Police Chief William Kingsbury .

During Wednesday's dangerousness hearing, Judge Thomas Finigan declared Lema-Pomavilla a danger and ordered him held without bail for 120 days. Lema-Pomavilla is due back in court on Oct. 25 for a pretrial hearing.

"It's a pretty bad case," Kingsbury told the Daily News. "It was a very complex investigation, and it took a while to get everything we needed to arrest him."

The victim is younger than 16 and is known to Lema-Pomavilla. Kingsbury did not disclose her exact age or the nature of her relationship to the suspect.

But Kingsbury said there were multiple incidents, and he said they happened over a several-year period up until earlier this year.

Police charged Lema-Pomavilla with two counts each of rape of a child with force; aggravated rape of a child; statutory rape; and kidnapping. They also charged him with one count each of drugging a child with the intent to rape; enticement of a child; assault and battery with a dangerous weapon; and indecent assault and battery.

Lema-Pomavilla was arraigned Sept. 18 in Wrentham District Court and ordered held without bail ahead of Wednesday's dangerousness hearing.

His lawyer, Susan Costa, could not be reached for comment.
