Event to focus on safe children and safe families

Safe Children, Safe Families will be the theme of Lucas County Children Services’ next community conversation on Monday.

LCCS staff, along with representatives of other community agencies, will discuss some of the concerns families experience, and the options families and caregivers have to prevent child abuse and neglect.

The conversation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Frederick Douglass Community Center, 1001 Indiana Ave.

Among the points they will touch are the role LCCS plays and what happens when someone calls 419-213-2273; ways families can address issues without LCCS intervention; and services for youth and adults that are available in your neighborhood.

The conversation will also discuss how to de-escalate a situation or family conflict and who to call in an emergency.
