Steve Spurrier Makes His Georgia at Alabama Prediction

One of the best matchups of the season takes place on Saturday when the No. 2 Georgia Bulldogs head to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, to face the No. 4 Alabama Crimson Tide . This game carries significant implications for both the SEC and the College Football Playoff.

Legendary coach and player Steve Spurrier made a bold prediction for the matchup. Having won the Heisman Trophy in 1967 as the quarterback for the Florida Gators , Spurrier certainly knows a thing or two about the game of football. After a playing career in the NFL , he transitioned to coaching, spending the majority of his time as head coach at Florida and South Carolina , along with stints at several other college teams and in the NFL.

While on Pat Dooley's " Another Dooley Noted Podcast ," Steve Spurrier made his opinion on the showdown very clear.

"Since it's at Bama, I would take Alabama." Spurrier said, "Didn't I read that Kirby [Smart] is 1-6 against Alabama or something like that? So they have been the two best, Georgia and Bama, for the last several years. So it'll be a huge game."

Kirby Smart is currently 1-5 against Alabama as head coach, but Spurrier was very close in his assessment. An important factor to note is that " College GameDay " will be in attendance in Tuscaloosa, and thus far this season, the road team has won every primetime matchup (excluding week zero).

If that trend continues, it would favor the Georgia Bulldogs. Ultimately, though, this matchup could come down to the experienced quarterback play on both sides, with Carson Beck leading Georgia and Jalen Milroe at the helm for Alabama.

This will be the first head-to-head matchup between these programs with Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer leading the way instead of Nick Saban.

As a result, Georgia may encounter different strategies and looks that they haven't faced after so many years against Saban. Nonetheless, this matchup is shaping up to be the best game of the weekend and has all the makings of an instant classic.
