    Vote for the Austin-area boys high school athlete of the week

    It's time to make your choice for the American-Statesman Austin-Area Boys Athlete of the Week for Sept. 16 through Sept. 21.

    McCallum quarterback Luke Dunham was voted the boys player of the week for Sept. 9-14. Liberty Hill volleyball player Taylor Gaines won the girls vote.

    We're going with six nominees for this week's award — one area running back vs. offensive players and one defensive standout:

    Kaden Arnot, Vista Ridge QB

    Arnot completed 23 of 34 passes for 261 yards and two TDs and rushed for 42 yards and another TD in the Rangers' win over Stony Point.

    Dylan Belinga, Liberty Hill RB

    Belinga rushed for 152 yards and four TDs during a victory over Connally.

    Cam Huff, Manor QB

    Huff threw for 341 yards and five TDs to lead the Mustangs past Hutto 43-36.

    Maddox Maher, Dripping Springs QB

    Maher finished with 280 passing yards and four TDs as the Tigers beat Johnson 49-34.

    Dylan Owens, Elgin QB

    Owens passed for 152 yards and three TDs and caught two scoring passes as well in a 50-26 win over McCallum.

    Ali Scott, LBJ QB

    Scott accounted for six touchdowns as he ran for four scores and threw for two more in an overtime win vs. Dallas Parish Episcopal.
