"President" Biden could intervene in this potential strike but has stated for the record he won't. The Taft-Hartley Act allows for an 80-day "cooling off period, which would force the dock workers to remain working while negotiations continued. Unfortunately for those who haven't heeded, the warnings of shortages may come to see what doing without may be like. Covid was a disruption in the supply chain that affected everyone and that was just a result of decreased production due to staffing. Imagine a complete shutdown of goods not coming to port or being off loaded. Our food supply is based on stores having a 3 day supply. This leaves little time for this to impact the public at large. Unfortunately, the government is refusing to intervene to keep its citizens from possibly suffering. This is just another reason to justify your emergency pantry to those who believe the government will come to your aid. The government has made its position clear they wish not to help.
