New Englanders are very serious coffee drinkers. We are known for our vibrant coffee culture, which is a rich blend of traditional flavors and global innovation. If you want to try something new, other than Dunkin and Starbucks, here are some of the best places to get your favorite coffee order in New England. The list is based on Boston 25's Best Coffee Shops in Each New England State.

In Connecticut, if you are a coffee aficionado, then you know where to get the best java in town. If you are looking for a warm, welcoming rustic café, than you can't go wrong with Ashalwn Farm Coffee in Old Saybrook. ''We buy only the best green coffees from farms on every coffee growing continent. All the roasting is done right here- neighboring the Old Saybrook train station, using state-of-the-art equipment.''

Rhode Island is also known for their vibrant coffee scene. When it comes to wanting something a little different, and very special, you go to Bolt Coffee Co. in Providence. ''Located in the heart of Downtown Providence, Bolt Coffee prepares breakfast, lunch and pastries to the crowds downtown.'' Try their Autumn seasonal blend, especially crafted to ''keep you company in the cooler New England mornings''.

Next up is the coffee-loving state of Massachusetts, and the rue dedication, philosophical approach and skill of Gracenote Coffee in Boston. ''As both coffee enthusiasts and roasters, we approach coffee with care and skill. Fundamentally, we roast coffee so that it tastes good. It also helps that we source some of the very best green coffee available.''

Much like New Hampshire's Dirt Cowboy Cafe in Hanover which offers something unique and truly special ''We offer 100% Pure Arabica beans roasted to order, shipped the next morning and taste tested at our café by over 600 daily customers. The Dirt Cowboy Café has been serving freshly roasted and individually brewed coffees to the Hanover community since 1993''

You also have to check out Vermont's skilled baristas, and experienced roasters at Speeder & Earl’s Coffee Pine Street Café ''At Speeders, we pride ourselves in the coffee that we roast, bringing Vermonters an increasingly large selection of single origin varietals, unique blends, fair trade & organic coffees, flavored coffees, and Swiss-water processed decafs.''

Lastly, we can't leave out Maine's extraordinary coffee community with ''a story in every cup'' and Bard Coffee in Portland. ''At Bard, it is our mission to tell the stories of these people, places, and coffees in every cup we serve as though we are fulfilling a promise. We do this by carefully sourcing, roasting and preparing our coffees using only the very best practices...''

I've actually been to Bolt Coffee Co. in Providence RI when I was visiting my family and I was really impressed. I do love my Starbucks but that was a great place, a nice change too.
