Sphynx cats are unique felines known for their playfulness, agility, and distinctive appearance. While they are relatively rare, this hairless breed has grown in popularity. Although we may see them more frequently, it isn’t every day that you’ll see one gliding through a park on a skateboard.

However, this unlikely scenario creates an exciting and entertaining display of feline intelligence and athleticism! Check out this sleek cat gliding on wheels in a video shared on September 6:

This guy has skills! Lindsey (@ lindseykuzmin ) reveals she’s been teaching her cat Marshall to ride a skateboard so they can enjoy the park together, and the training process has been relatively straightforward because he is food-motivated. She reports that her biggest challenge was teaching him to push himself forward, but she solved that problem by using his favorite treat to coax him down the hallway. Once he had mastered that final skill, this athletic Sphynx got a custom skateboard and even took part in the design. With his fabulous tie-dyed shirt and helmet on, he was ready to go! He’s so cute! However, he ultimately left the helmet at home since cats always land on their feet. For his first time at the park, he did a sensational job and didn’t hesitate to take his new board out for a ride, which earned him more of his tasty treats. Now, Lindsey has a regular buddy to skate with!

Steps to Teach a Cat to Skateboard

    1. Get them familiar. Before starting, allow your cat to become familiar with the skateboard by placing it in a common area and allowing them to explore.

    2. Use treats! Gradually encourage interactions using high-value treats and lots of praise, never pushing them to do anything they are uncomfortable with.

    3. Go slow. You can introduce small, brief movements once your cat is comfortable on and around the board. Again, use treats and praise to create a positive association with this activity.

    4. Keep practicing. Practice regularly and increase your cat’s time on the board once they show signs of comfort or more interest.

People were impressed by this adorable cat’s abilities and attire. Viewer @dianasaladpot responded, “The helmet... I gave myself a stitch, laughing. Bless him, lol. This cat is a genius and also a lot cooler than me.” He’s cooler than me, too! Viewer @malanadalton remarked, “I love the helmet! So stinking cute!” He's a charmer. Another person responded, “This is what I mean when I say I’m into skater guys!” This sweet fellow would undoubtedly have the ladies lining up.

It shouldn’t take Marshall long to gain confidence and take on those bigger hills. If we are lucky, he may even learn to enjoy wearing his helmet when he does.
