Chat Pile are back with “Funny Man,” the latest new song from their upcoming sophomore album Cool World . They’ve also shared a new batch of 2025 tour dates with Gouge Away and Nightosphere kicking off in February.

The new tour dates follow Chat Pile’s 2024 North American run in support of Cool World , which kicks off on Halloween. Beginning with a show in Dallas on February 14th, the band will hit numerous cities in the west like Austin, Phoenix, San Diego, Seattle, Vancouver, Calgary, and more. With crushing, dissonant guitars and vocals that teem with frustration and anguish, “Funny Man” is a tense rager from the Oklahoma City quartet. Frontman Raygun Busch says in a statement that the song revolves around “being a servant, indentured or otherwise” and boils down to “illusion vs reality in regards to America and war.” Those knotty themes definitely make their way into the sonics of “Funny Man,” which descends into a carnal breakdown around the two-minute mark.

The track also arrives with an eerie music video from multi-disciplinary artist Matt Rosenbaum. He juxtaposes the song’s thrashing, loaded groove with still images of a dilapidated house, complete with mold on the walls, furniture dismantled, party decorations being left outside overnight, and all sorts of spooky sights. “Matt was able to tap into a very specific uncomfortable feeling that conjures those depressive semi-conscious dream states that we’ve all experienced but can’t quite articulate,” the band’s bassist Stin says in a press release. “Funny Man” is the latest track off Chat Pile’s new album Cool World , which arrives on October 11th. They previously shared singles “Masc” and “I Am Dog Now,” which we named as our Heavy Song of the Week upon release.
