Melbourne Aquarium Makes Plea for Katy Perry to Visit Viral Sensation 'Pesto the Penguin'

American singer, songwriter and television personality Katy Perry is going to have a new title coming up soon, and that will be pal of Pesto the king penguin who resides at the Sea Life Aquarium in Melbourne, Australia.

Perry will be performing in Australia while promoting her '143: I Love You More' album and was invited to meet this incredibly famous (and adorable!) penguin in person.

The sweet invitation was posted by the TikTok account for @ Sealifemelbourneaquarium and was captioned, "From one icon to another—Katy Perry come meet Pesto. Catch this VIP (Very Important Penguin) at SEA LIFE Melbourne." The the most exciting part? Katy Perry responded to the invitation!

Perry isn't the only one traveling to see this adorably huge penguin, because another person said, "I am flying to Australia to meet him!" Someone else said, "Im sorry all I care about is seeing Pesto content on my feed not to be dramatic but I'd die for him." Someone else added, "Pesto needs a children's book written about him!! What a cutie!" Count me in, I'd be first in line to buy that book!

He's just too cute and too massive, I would love to meet this special penguin too! I'm not sure how his keepers can't keep from snuggling him nonstop. It's just so wonderful how his fandom is teaching so many fans about king penguins and how penguins are an important part of the ecosystem.

Pesto is a Total Star

Pesto, the gigantic nine-month-old King Penguin has been drawing massive crowds to the Melbourne Aquarium and has videos have earned over two billion views across social media platforms.

Pesto is said to eat twice as many fish as an adult penguin, and he sometimes eats more than his own body weight in one day. The aquarium says that he will lose his fluffy brown feathers as he grows up, and his hefty body will slim down as he starts learning to swim, but he will always be a big boy .

The Visitsealife website explains, " Pesto's impressive weight is due to a number of factors.

Firstly, his biological dad, Blake, is our biggest and oldest penguin.

Secondly, he's had amazing parents raising him!

So, the combination of good genes and good parents explains his current weight, but he will lose a lot of this when he fledges (develops his adult feathers.)"

He's all ready 46 pounds at only nine months old!
