Pogo Chose To Be A Source Of Happiness Even Though His Own Life Was Traumatic

Dogs are the best friend you will have by your side when no one will be there for you. They will keep you motivated and make you feel loved even when no one will trust you. But you know what? Many people don’t understand this and mistreat their pet dogs a lot and sometimes it's so extreme that they end up hitting and abusing their dogs.

The abuse and hitting can cause a lot of trauma and psychological illness in dogs and most importantly, they might lose their confidence and smile forever. So you always need to understand that dogs also need love and care just like any other animal and even humans.

We have heard a lot of stories about animal abuse but always remember, before adopting any animal, please consider discussing it with your family; otherwise, if there is conflict in the family, then there will be stress that might affect you and your dog.

Just like that, we have a story where a couple has adopted a dog but the husband doesn’t like him, and there is always chaos so much that it is visible on the dog’s face and body. Well, the husband might be hitting the dog too because he was too scared and skinnish. After all, no healthy dog would look like that.

    Bonnie Meeting Pogo at Park

The story begins when Bonnie Derhay of Jackson, New Jersey, met Pogo, who was nine back then and looked older than his actual age; he looked like a scrappy terrier mix at a dog park. Bonnie was so shocked and disheartened when she looked at Pogo, who was scared of everything and couldn’t trust anyone around.

    Pogo wasn’t Looking Happy

Pogo was with his owner in the park and when Bonnie talked to the owner, she revealed that she was there to leave the dog in the park if nobody took him. Well, it was because her husband didn’t like the dog and even though she didn’t say a word about abuse, it was clear that her husband had hit Pogo.

Well, Bonnie couldn’t look at such a sight and leave the dog there so she brought him to her home and no doubt her family loved him. She cleaned him and showed him what true love is. Even though Pogo went through a lot of traumatic experiences in his life, he was full of life and chose to be happy. So, Bonnie trained him and he soon became a certified therapy dog.

    Pogo Became a Therapy Dog

Pogo now volunteers at Caregiver Canines of New Jersey and helps so many depressed and suffering individuals connect with life and happiness. Pogo used to visit senior citizens Fran and Doug who couldn’t afford their own dog, and Doug suffered paralysis due to a stroke. So, for Doug, Pogo was the source of happiness and the bright side of his dull life.
