The City of Leeds is hosting an art competition titled, “Pull Up a Chair: An Artistic Journey Through Downtown Leeds” and needs talented artists to transform rocking chairs into stunning works of art.</p><p>Keep reading to learn more about this exciting competition. </p><h2>Fostering creativity </h2><figure><img src="https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?type=thumbnail_580x000&amp;url=2n8IL1_0vhwmpSc00" alt="https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=2n8IL1_0vhwmpSc00" width="1200" height="900" ><figcaption>These are great views of Main Street in Leeds. (Leeds Main Street)</figcaption></figure><p>The Alabama State Council on the Arts is helping Leeds pursue art and liven up the community by providing the town with a grant that aims to foster creativity and support for local artists. </p><p>The Alabama State Council on the Arts is a state agency that works to preserve the artistic side of Alabama by supporting various art organizations, schools and colleges around the state.</p><p>This competition will be open to all local artists and a committee will then select 10-20 artists to paint the rocking chairs that will be shown off in various locations in Leeds. Each selected artist will receive a stipend and supplies to cover the materials. The artist will have until January 21st to paint and decorate the chairs for both creativity and durability. </p><p>The rocking chairs will then be displayed in February of 2025 and auctioned off within the community. </p><blockquote><p>“I’m thrilled about the upcoming rocking chair art project and the opportunity it presents to bring more creativity and beauty to Leeds.
