The Least Used Amtrak Station In Alabama As Of 2023

TUSCALOOSA, AL - Amtrak ridership in Alabama reached a total of 44,170 passengers in fiscal year 2023, with the state’s three stations—Birmingham, Tuscaloosa, and Anniston—serving the Crescent route.

According to Amtrak, this daily train runs between New York City and New Orleans, stopping in cities like Washington D.C., Atlanta, and Birmingham along the way.

Birmingham’s Amtrak station saw the highest ridership in the state, with 32,738 passengers, making it the most popular stop in Alabama. Tuscaloosa followed with 7,973 riders, according to Amtrak.

However, Anniston was the least utilized station in the state, with only 3,459 passengers boarding or departing, according to Amtrak.

Despite its lower numbers, the Anniston station remains a crucial stop on the Crescent route, connecting the town to major cities across the country.

Amtrak relies on cooperation with host railroads to keep trains on schedule, though on-time performance often faces challenges due to delays caused by freight traffic.

Need public transportation in Decatur to Huntsville. At least Huntsville has local bus service that's more than most cities have!
