<body><div><img src="https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?type=thumbnail_580x000&amp;url=4NzFgn_0viF74rI00" alt="https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=4NzFgn_0viF74rI00" width="1320" height="743" >CENTRE COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — After years of controversy and court battles, a settlement may be near in a multi-million-dollar dispute between State College Borough and the Centre region's primary wastewater treatment authority.This week, the University Area Joint Authority's board of directors is expected to meet to consider a potential agreement with the State College Borough.The UAJA board discussed the upcoming meeting at their meeting last week.Back in the fall of 2022, UAJA filed a lawsuit in Centre County court, against the borough, claiming State College had not paid what they were billed for sewage treatment.The borough responded in a countersuit, claiming UAJA had overbilled the borough by $6 million.Court documents indicate that, earlier this year, a Penn State engineer was helping to mediate the dispute.Last week, the UAJA board discussed a possible rate increase for next year, with the executive director saying that if they don’t get back payment money from State College, which the authority says is now in the millions of dollars, that the lost revenue would result in many UAJA customers seeing a rate increase next year in their sewer bills.That increase is expected to be approximately $32 per customer.While no details of the possible settlement have been made public, a Centre County judge previously scheduled a November court date for a status conference on the negotiations.</div></body>
