CUMBERLAND, R.I. (WPRI) — A 25-year-old man is in critical condition after he was hit by a car near the Highland Corporation Park in Cumberland on Tuesday.

Cumberland Police Chief Matthew Benson said the driver was heading from Route 99 onto Highland Corporate Drive. The victim was in the area of a crosswalk.

Highland Corporate Drive was closed while police investigated, but it’s since reopened.

A 12 News crew at the scene saw a car get towed away and yellow evidence markers in the road.

According to Benson, Cumberland police are conducting an accident reconstruction. The incident is still under investigation.
