    Man dies in Tuesday morning shooting in Portsmouth, police say

    A man died of gunshot wounds after a shooting in Portsmouth on Tuesday morning, police said in a release.

    Police responded to the 300 block of Gilmerton Avenue, a residential street near Elm Avenue, at approximately 10:20 a.m. for reports of a shooting. There, officers found a man with life-threatening gunshot wounds.

    Police said 38-year-old Marvin Lamar Hatcher was pronounced dead at the scene.

    Detectives continue to investigate the shooting.
