DELMAR — A year after stopping Delmar High’s 120-game field hockey winning streak, Smyrna knocked off the Wildcats again.

This time the Eagles toppled Delmar, 3-1, on its home field in a matchup of Henlopen Conference powers on Tuesday afternoon.

The Wildcats (6-1) had won 12 games in a row since falling to Cape Henlopen last fall.

On Tuesday, Delmar jumped out to a 1-0 lead on Jordyn Hollamon’s first-quarter goal.

But Smyrna (4-2) tied the game in the second quarter on a goal from Addison Beamer before taking the lead for good on Cara Nacrelli’s goal with 3:46 left before halftime.

Nacrelli added a second goal in the third quarter to give the Eagles their two-goal advantage.

Sophomore goalie Nora O’Connell made eight saves for Smyrna. Delmar finished with advantages of 13-10 in shots and 7-4 in corners.

Marleigh Wells made six saves for the Wildcats.
