Miami Dolphins Reveal Injury Updates For 3 Key Players

The Miami Dolphins season took an unfortunate turn when starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was placed on injured reserve following a worrying concussion diagnosis. As the Miami Dolphins look to survive without their star QB, other injuries to the squad will make the coming weeks even more difficult.

Miami Dolphins Head Coach Mike McDaniel Gives Media Update

When Mike McDaniel was asked about Tua Tagovailoa’s timeline, and as expected, no groundbreaking news was shared. Despite reports of a scheduling setback, McDaniel let everyone know that that information was not shared by him.

“For me, the plan has never changed. I was meeting with a neurologist this week and the plan hasn’t changed and it’s being executed,” McDaniel said. “So, that’s kind of where that stands. I don’t know reports. I don’t know whose sources are who, but people should just talk to me. Yeah, I get the real information.”

Huge updates will be coming soon regarding Tua’s health and longevity. However, his concussion is not the only one the Miami Dolphins must monitor. Star offensive tackle Terron Armstead and starting corner Kendall Fuller both fell with head injuries against the Seattle Seahawks, both going through the concussion protocol.

“Good conversations with them today, but we will, you know, no timelines and day to day and just making sure that they’re getting back to full health and then assessing the plan after that,” McDaniel said. “I don’t really — I couldn’t rule anybody out for anything — but I really don’t have a scope either just because it was so fresh and we were just taking it day by day.”

When asked about an update on Super Bowl champion Odell Beckham Jr., McDaniel had promising things to say.

“Some good progress and I’m optimistic for when his window opens up and we will see how his body responds,” McDaniel said. “I do know that there’s been some very intentional good work and that he hasn’t had the setbacks that we’ve made sure to avoid.”

Odell Beckham Jr. is currently on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list. Beckham is eligible to be activated following the Week 4 matchup against the Tennessee Titans on Monday night. McDaniel noted that there have been no setbacks in Beckham’s recovery. This week will be crucial in assessing whether he will be prepared to practice next week. Given the Miami Dolphins’ lack of depth in the position group, Odell will be welcomed to the squad with open arms.

Can The Miami Dolphins Stay Afloat?

The Miami Dolphins face the Titans, Patriots, and Colts before a potential Tua return. Those teams currently have a combined record of 3-6. Given how they have performed up to this point, the Dolphins must aim to pick up at least two wins. If the Miami Dolphins maintain a 3-3 record or close, they are set up for a potential playoff push with Tua Tagovailoa back at the helm.
