Thomas More University’s Theatre Department will present a new production of William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream , featuring a floral-printed set designed by acclaimed local artist Stephanie Berrie.

The installation will transform the TMU stage into a living work of art and will immerse audiences in the whimsical world of Shakespeare’s beloved comedy. The show will run from October 3-6 at the Thomas More Theatre, located at 333 Thomas More Parkway in Crestview Hills.

Directed by Phillip Webster, this production is a fresh take on Shakespeare’s classic tale of love, mischief, and magic. Set in a fantastical forest where fairies play tricks and lovers’ hearts are twisted by magic, A Midsummer Night’s Dream explores its characters’ chaotic, humorous, and enchanting experiences as they navigate dreams and reality. This new staging, however, will stand out for its innovative, visually breathtaking set.

“Stephanie Berrie’s 3D floral installation elevates our production to an entirely new level,” said Webster. “The blend of art and theatre will give the audience a truly immersive experience, where the forest feels alive and magical, perfectly capturing the essence of Shakespeare’s enchanted world.”

Berrie, known for her intricate and imaginative floral art, has created an installation of screenprinted paper and felt plants that envelops the stage in vivid blooms, twisting vines, and lush foliage, drawing audiences deeper into the play’s magical forest setting. Her work has been featured in galleries across the region, making this collaboration with Thomas More University a truly unique addition to the production.

In addition to the dazzling set, the performance will showcase the talent of the university’s student actors, who bring to life the iconic roles of Oberon, Titania, Puck, and the four star-crossed lovers caught in the fairies’ mischievous magic. With a vibrant mix of humor, romance, and whimsy, A Midsummer Night’s Dream continues to resonate with audiences of all ages, and this production is set to enchant both seasoned Shakespeare fans and first-time theatre-goers alike.
