WILKES-BARRE, PA (September 24, 2024) -- The King's College men's soccer team tied the Susquehanna River Hawks 1-1 Tuesday evening at McCarthy Stadium, moving to 3-2-2 and handing the River Hawks their second draw of the season to put them at 5-1-2. The all-time series record between the two programs is now 6-16-2. Philip Permyashkin got things going for the Monarchs early in the game, taking a corner kick 1:36 into the first half. The remainder of the first 45 minutes of play proved to be extremely competitive as each team tallied five shots, the River Hawks with two corner kicks and five fouls while the Monarchs with three corner kicks and four fouls. King's goalkeeper Ben VanValkenburg and Susquehanna's Tony Burns each tallied two saves. Susquehanna's junior midfielder Sam Netzley was issued a yellow card in minute 34. The score was 0-0 going into halftime.
