OG requires about a year of intensive training, is very expensive, has limited seats available and was designed specifically for 1:1 with dyslexic students. What this article is not saying is that if the district wants this money they must use “The Science of Reading,” program. Which like OG teaches phonics not comprehension. In addition the article implies that teaches can currently use whatever program they want. That has never been the case. There’s so much wrong with this article and Healy’s approach I could go on and on. The bottom line is that no one program will work for everyone. To teach reading effectively it must be a multi modality approach and tailored to the child’s specific needs and learning style.

I don't understand why all schools do not have teachers trained in Orton Gillingham. I am not positive but, I believe it is a more explicit way of teaching and would help all the students who need it.And why aren't all schools screening for Dyslexia?
