42-Year-Old NFL Star Exploring Comeback With Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks are one of the early surprises of the 2024 NFL season thanks to an undefeated 3-0 record, but they're still looking for reinforcements on offense entering Week 4.

According to ESPN's Field Yates citing the NFL's transaction report, the Seahawks hosted 42-year-old offensive tackle Jason Peters for a free agent visit on Tuesday.

While a signing has not been announced as of writing, the move signals a potential comeback for his 21st NFL season. First, the 6-foot-4, 328 pounder will need to pass a physical.

Peters was a mid-season addition for Seattle in Nov. 2023 after injuries at the tackle position forced a shortage of depth. He appeared in eight games (two starts), however, the Seahawks missed the postseason.

Seattle is again facing key injuries on the bookends of its offensive line. Starting tackle George Fant is currently on injured reserve while third-year man Abraham Lucas remains inactive on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list after starting all 22 of his NFL games since 2022.

For his career, Peters has accumulated 221 starts in 248 games for five different teams: The Buffalo Bills (2004-08), Philadelphia Eagles (2009-20), Chicago Bears (2021), Dallas Cowboys (2022) and Seahawks (2023).

His resume also includes nine Pro Bowl selections, two First-Team All-Pro honors and a Super Bowl ring in 2018 with the Eagles.
