<div>The Franklin County School System will be conducting an Intruder Alert safety drill Thursday at all schools in the district.School Superintendent of Operations Carl Dekker issued a notice to parents and caregivers Tuesday.Dekker said during the drill, students will also practice what they would do in the event of an intruder emergency.In June 2023, Georgia HB147 was amended to require every public school to conduct an “Intruder Alert” drill by October 1 of each school year.The drill is for students, school administrators, teachers, and other school personnel based upon guidance from the Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency.The amended bill also gives parents the choice to opt their student out of the Intruder Alert drill.</div>
