As part of the Celtics ' media day ahead of training camp, Jaylen Brown spoke about the depth of the Boston Celtics . Brown noted that their roster is so deep that the Celtics can put out their role players like Payton Pritchard and Sam Houser on the court as leaders and still comfortably beat weaker teams like the Pistons.

"Finding different ways to lead, sometimes needs that sacrifice. On a night we're playing - and I don't mean to disrespect them - the Detroit Pistons who have struggled over the last year or two."

"We're going to play through Payton [Pritchard], let him go for 30. Play through Sam, let him shoot 10 threes tonight. We're going to still win the game, it doesn't have to be the normal way but that gives those guys confidence, and the ability to run free, and we're going to need that down the line."

Jaylen Brown 's confidence in his teammates is encouraging and just goes to show how much he believes in them. On top of that, it speaks to the Celtics' incredible depth that they can put out some of their role players against the weaker teams in the NBA and still secure the win on any given night.

Of course, there is no guarantee that the role players will be able to lead the Celtics took victory when playing against weaker teams.

But considering how strong their entire squad is, the Celtics role players have a better chance to help win them the game than any other team. And if nothing else, it gets the players the chance to take the lead and build their confidence for the postseason, as Brown mentioned.

Boston Celtics Ready To Run It Back

The Celtics are considered the favorites to win the NBA championship this season, coming off their championship win last season. They have retained most of their key stars, and are on paper the strongest teams in the NBA. But as we have seen in the past, the NBA championship is not won on paper.

Last year, the Denver Nuggets were considered the favorites to go back-to-back as NBA champions. However, they weren't even able to reach the Western Conference Finals, getting knocked out by the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Nuggets became the latest team in the NBA to fail at repeating as NBA champions.

The NBA hasn't seen a team win back-to-back NBA championships since 2018, when the Warriors won it all. And there hasn't been any team to return to the NBA Finals in back-to-back years since 2019, when again, the Warriors were able to do so. This just goes to show how competitive the NBA has become and how things have played out over the years.

Perhaps the Celtics can change this run of form for the league, and win the championship again.

But they won't have it quite as easy this time, as the Knicks and the 76ers have gotten a lot better, and the Celtics might have to play at least one of them to reach the finals, not mention whoever emerges from the Western Conference, which has also gotten way more stacked.
