(Photo/The Dutchman)</figcaption></figure>Sometimes when a dream come true is dangled in front of you, you need to act on it despite how busy you are.That’s what happened when Anmar Natheer and Geno Iozzino decided to open a high-end seafood restaurant called The Dutchman.When the pair learned that the Greenville space which was previously occupied by Reid’s Fine Foods was up for sale, they felt the time and place were right to launch the new venture.“It’s in the new corridor where Tupelo Honey and Basil Thair are,” he said, referring to two other eateries in the area.In opening the restaurant, the men are marrying their love for fishing with a cuisine that will appeal to seafood aficionados in the area.“We do three or four offshore fishing trips a year and like to cook and sample a large variety of fish,” said Iozzino.The men named their three other restaurants for their respective zip codes: The 05, The 07 and The One5. According to Iozzino, they are deviating from their traditional naming convention with the new restaurant because it is an altogether separate concept from the others.“The 07 was new construction, The 05 was repurposed and TheOne5 was redone and that’s what we’re doing in this space with The Dutchman,” said Iozzino, adding that they like finding buildings and ascertaining why they didn’t work, then customizing the space to fit their needs.The Reid’s space, at 4500 square feet, was the exact fit for what they had in mind.A focus on fresh seafoodAccording to Iozzino, the Dutchman will have a full bar which will seat 17, a raw bar, a dining room that will seat 115 and a large patio for dining al fresco. Iozzino said that the kitchen will be anything but cramped and describes it as “a good size” compared to some.As for the cuisine, Iozzino said that they are going to focus on the freshest seafood dishes that they can create and serve some that can stand alone too, like shrimp, lobsters, clams, crabs, and oysters.“We’re looking forward to having the first sit-down raw bar in downtown Greenville,” said Iozzino.The pair is also considering allowing for customization where people can build their own seafood platter.“We’re bringing to Greenville what it currently lacks and that’s consistently good and fresh seafood, which isn’t to say that it will be limited to sea food. We will also be offering two cuts of steak and other items so that people who don’t enjoy the cuisine will also have a choice,” Iozzino said.A menu for hand-crafted cocktails is currently in the works. “We’re bringing one of our head bartenders over from The 07 and she’s going to help in creating the cocktail menu,” Iozzino said.As for the décor, the pair is working with Kelly Ford, of Ford Interior Design.“She’s local and is bringing in lots of dark blues, browns, and wood and because The Dutchman is named after a famous sailor, we’ll have lots of ship vibes,” said Iozzino, adding that the walls of the private dining room will be festooned with ship wallpaper.Currently in the works is a search for a chef.“We are in the process of deciding and would like him to have some say over the purveyors when we open,” said Iozzino.For the time being, the target date for opening at 1 N. Laurens St. is Feb. 2, but being in the restaurant world for so long, Iozzino knows that delays can happen.“In a perfect world, that’s the date,” he said, with a chuckle.Right now, they’re simply happy to see The Dutchman slowly coming to fruition.“It’s been the plan forever and the opportunity didn’t present itself before now,” Iozzino said. “It’s been more of a dream, and we never found the right space and time. Now we have and we are looking forward to it becoming a reality.”</div></body>
