Church on 903 in Bracey last week was Graham Horne, a traveller who was reported missing from the area on August 19.According to authorities, Horne was traveling with a faith-based group when they stopped at the Simmons Travel Center. After an altercation between Horne and members of the group he was traveling with, surveillance showed Horne walking away on foot.Posts were made to social media and searches were conducted in the area.On Monday, September 16, local law enforcement and rescue were dispatched to a church located at 9327 Highway 903 in Bracey after emergency communication received information of a possible body in a well.The call came from a plumber who claimed there was a strong odor coming from a well located on the property and when he looked inside he could see a shoe and other bulky items floating in the water.The body was sent to the Medical Examiners Office in Richmond where fingerprints determined that it was Graham Horne.According to Captain Chris Whittemore with MCSO said there are no suspects at this time.“The investigation is continuing and we still have other witnesses to interview.”Evidence has been recovered from the crime scene and video surveillance from he Poplar Pointe Boat and RV Storage is being reviewed by Investigator Chris Baird and Lieutenant Jason Seamans.Whittemore said that motion activated cameras located on the St. Stephen R.Z.U.A. property are being reviewed, but they are insufficient and only hold data for a few weeks.“This is an ongoing investigation. If there is any information that needs to be shared please contact either Investigator Baird or Lieutenant Seamans. The Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office would like to clarify that the well top was found by members of the church off. We can confirm the members placed the top back on the well before the body was found.
