Indiana High School Football Rankings Hold Steady in Week 5 Polls, No New No. 1s
24 days ago
For the first time this season, there are no changes at the top of the USA TODAY Network Indiana high school football rankings. All six No. 1 teams across the state’s divisions maintained their positions heading into Week 5. Westfield (Class 6A), Plainfield (5A), New Palestine (4A), Evansville Memorial (3A), Lafayette Central Catholic (2A), and North Judson (Class A) all remain firmly at the summit.
Several new teams, however, have broken into the top 10 across various classes, reflecting the ever-evolving landscape of Indiana high school football as the season progresses.
In Class 6A, Westfield continues its dominance with a perfect 4-0 record, garnering 15 first-place votes. Brownsburg, also undefeated, follows closely with two first-place votes, while Warren Central and Crown Point complete the top four. Notably, Fort Wayne Snider makes an entry at No. 10, replacing Carmel, which dropped out of the rankings after a Week 4 loss.
In Class 5A, Plainfield remains at No. 1, with Valparaiso and Merrillville tied for second, both receiving first-place votes. Concord moved up to No. 4, while Decatur Central dropped to No. 9 following a tough start to the season at 1-2.
Class 4A sees New Palestine holding the top spot, receiving all but one first-place vote. Evansville Reitz and Greenfield-Central round out the top three. Meanwhile, Columbia City climbs into the top 10, replacing NorthWood.
Evansville Memorial continues to lead Class 3A, securing all but one first-place vote, while Gibson Southern and Heritage Hills keep the pressure on. Mississinewa made a significant jump to No. 6 after a strong start to the season.
In Class 2A, Lafayette Central Catholic leads with 13 first-place votes, followed by North Posey and Brownstown Central, both undefeated. Heritage Christian cracked the top 10 for the first time this season.
Finally, Class A sees North Judson maintain its grip on the top spot, with Providence close behind, claiming the only other first-place vote. Monroe Central and Pioneer also enter the rankings this week, as North Miami and North Vermillion drop out.
