Late Tuesday night, UNLV Rebels' quarterback Matthew Sluka announced that he has decided to redshirt this season and will not be playing anymore games. In his statement, Sluka said that he "committed to UNLV based on certain representations that were made to me, which were not upheld after I enrolled."

Sluka went on to also say that "it became clear that these commitments would not be fulfilled in the future." This in itself has caused some backlash, though a lot of people were still defending him.

That said, after a Las Vegas Based FOX News sports reporter took to Twitter or "X" with an alleged update on the situation, fans became outraged.

After it being alleged that Sluka has been offered more money to transfer, fans did not hold back in their response.

"If this is true then Sluka is a massive loser," said one fan, with another adding that it "gross" and "ruining the spirit of the game."

One fan called him "selfish," with another adding that he "did his team dirty."

While this report hasn't been well-received in the slightest, it is still just alleged for the time being. That said, Paloma Villicana is a well-respected sports reporter in Vegas, and even interviewed Sluka after UNLV's 3-0 start. That said, if this is true, college football could make drastic NIL rule changes over this incident.

He wants to get paid and because he won't play for the NFL, I guess he wants it now.
