<body><div><p>Keep rolling, keep trying and support each other!</p><p>Those are just some of the messages that Cottage Lane Elementary School Enrichment teacher Kerri McBride is spreading to classes across the school during her first math push-in lessons of the school year. She is dedicating these first lessons to reintroducing herself to students and encouraging them to have confidence in themselves as they learn new things this year.</p><p>Last Wednesday, McBride visited CLE teacher Jaime Tan’s fifth grade class to try out several math games using dice. Following a class-wide exercise using their mental math skills, students were given a single die and they were tasked with rolling their die to land on each side, numbers one through six, in numerical order. If a student was able to roll and land on each number that makes up the die and make it to six, McBride had them go to another table to cheer on their classmates as they worked to make it up to the number six on their die.</p><p>The idea behind this exercise was that during the activity, no particular student was “better” at math, it was simply due to luck that they landed on each number in order and McBride wanted each student to keep on rolling, not give up and to support their classmates. “My message to all CLE students this year is to keep rolling!
