As first reported by Dayton Daily News , a new cafe called Chai Corner is making plans to open near Wright State University. The cafe will open in a space that formerly housed Don Patron Mexican Grill, which is located in a shopping plaza at 2632 Colonel Glenn Hwy, in Fairborn.

The new cafe is owned by Salman Ashraf and his wife, Ashra Ahmad. Ashraf said the business is a passion project for the couple since each have established careers outside of the food and beverage industry. Ashraf is a cardiologist and Ahmad an architect, additionally, the couple has brought in a business partner, Syed Abbas, who owns a restaurant in Columbus.

Ashraf said the establishment has capacity for around 120 people, and the atmosphere will feature a modern interior with construction currently underway to update the flooring, add porcelain tile in green and gold, along with pendant and track-style lighting to be added throughout.

“We want this to be a great gift for the community since there’s not much like it in Dayton currently,” Ashraf shared.

The establishment will serve what he calls fusion style coffees, and will specialize in masala chai, adani chai, Turkish coffee and Arabic qahwah, as well as Moroccan teas. In terms of food, expect a selection of dessert and pastries that pair well with the beverages, as well as snacks and casual fare like burgers and wraps. On weekends guests can partake in a breakfast buffet where the selections will include classic offerings like waffles, plus crepe and omelet stations that are cooked to order by a chef and a variety of fusion breakfast offerings.

Given that the eatery is in such close proximity to Wright State University, the establishment will offer wifi and be open late so students have a place to study. The current timeline for opening Chai Corner is in early November, but follow the establishment on Facebook to stay up to date on all the details.
