Look no further than 9th Street Cafe which offers a unique blend of Mexican-style cuisine and your favorite hipster coffee shop.Located at 602 W. 9th Street, 9th Street Cafe launched its official “soft opening” week on Monday, Sept. 23, and plans to be open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. six days a week.9th Street Cafe offers a breakfast, lunch and coffee menu. Some of its menu items include a variety of breakfast items, smoothies, salads, soups, pasta, sandwiches and more.On the lunch menu, I struggled to pick between a soup, salad or sandwich. I ultimately landed on the “Mexican Sandwich” which consists of carne asada, pico de gallo, avocado, pepper jack cheese, onions and cabbage.<img src="https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?type=thumbnail_580x000&amp;url=3ijwnr_0vjITH8n00" alt="https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=3ijwnr_0vjITH8n00" width="1369" height="1513" >I can never say no to a coffee, so I treated myself to an iced caramel latte and was delighted to see it was served with a chocolate straw! This latte is perfect for those with a sweet tooth as it is creamy and sweet. My food arrived soon after I found a place to sit and after the first bite, I was sure that I had chosen the right item. The savory steak and avocado were perfectly balanced with the sweet pico de gallo and tangy pepper jack, and the toast that held it all together added a nice crunch to the experience. The breakfast potatoes served on the side were soft and salty. After finishing up my flavorful sandwich, I washed it down with the last of my latte.<img src="https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?type=thumbnail_580x000&amp;url=1zReA4_0vjITH8n00" alt="https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=1zReA4_0vjITH8n00" width="1247" height="1663" >Before I landed on my meal choice, I was helped by a friendly staff member who showed me the cafe's breakfast, lunch and coffee menu.I scanned the breakfast platters paying special attention to the “LFK Platter” which was carne asada, bacon, eggs, breakfast potatoes and pancakes. I also considered the “Healthy Sunrise Platter,” one of the many health-oriented options that consist of scrambled egg whites, peppers, turkey bacon, fruit and wheat toast. After placing my order at the front, I walked into the main dining area which is well-lit and airy. The large windows offer plenty of natural light and the feeling of being outside without the inconveniences of wind, bugs, etc. Plenty of patio space was also available for those who like to enjoy their meals outside. The clean, chic interior offered a comfortable and casual spot to read a book, do homework or chat with a friend.9th Street Cafe offers a modern twist on traditional Mexican cuisine. It is important to support local business owners, especially those willing to step out of the box. I will surely be adding 9th Street Cafe to my list of recommendations for those looking for a delicious and unique dining experience in Lawrence. </div></body>
