Stops are scheduled every 4 to 5 miles, and the route is fully supported and guided by local public safety agencies. This event is free for everyone through the generous support of community partners and businesses, and the first 400 people to register will receive a free, official event T-shirt. The bike ride is designed for bicyclists of all ages; no prior experience is necessary. However, participants under 18 must have a parent or guardian accompany them on the ride. Mayors and elected officials from throughout Yuma County, neighboring tribes, regional cities, and San Luis Rio Colorado in Mexico will be riding with participants and encouraging riders along the way. For those who cannot attend the preregistration, on-site registration begins at 7:00 am October 26 at the Yuma Civic Center parking lot. Riders must complete a waiver to participate, should bring their own sunscreen, bicycle, helmet and proper documentation to cross the international border, and limit the use of large bags and backpacks. YCAT will provide public transportation back to the Civic Center at the event’s conclusion. However, those wishing to travel on their own schedule should coordinate a ride back.
