    Sta-Kleen is a historic landmark

The Virginia Department of Historic Resources has added the Sta-Kleen Bakery building in Lynchburg to its registry. The building was first used in 1915 at 1276 Park Ave.

The bakery quickly experienced rapid growth from a local company into a statewide and regional business selling products throughout Virginia, West Virginia, and North Carolina.

In 1938 Sta-Kleen Bakery joined the Quality Bakers of America Cooperative, Inc. (QBA), after winning several awards from the cooperative. As a member of QBA, Sta-Kleen became a local producer and seller of the nationwide brand Sunbeam Bread.

The large building that housed the former bakery was built in several phases between 1913 and the 1940s. In 1942, Sta-Kleen became the Sunbeam brand and between the late 1960s and the mid-1970s became the Flowers Baking Company..
