Southern Pork Chop Biscuit Recipe: Easy and Delicious!

My family loves pork chop biscuits, so this is a meal I make often, It is simple to make and you could use canned or frozen biscuits if you do not want to take the time to make these buttermilk biscuits. You will need the following ingredients:

    Recipe:

    1 1/2 cups of self-rising flour

    1 tablespoon of vegetable shortening

    1/2 - 3/4 cups of buttermilk

    4 boneless pork chops

    1 tablespoon of oil

    salt and pepper to taste

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.

In a medium bowl add the flour and the shortening and using your clean hands, break the shortening up into tiny pieces mixing it in the flour as you go. Add the buttermilk and mix this together until the dough is formed. It will be wet. The amount of buttermilk will depend on the flour and the type of buttermilk you use.

Rinse your hands and then sprinkle the dough with a little flour, and put some flour on your hands, and pinch the biscuit dough into golf ball pieces and roll them with your hands and place them in an oven safe pan and repeat until the dough is gone. Tip: You can also just use a spoon to drop these bicuits instead of rolling them.

Place the biscuits in the oven and bake for 20 - 25 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown.

Meanwhile, place a medium skillet on medium high heat and add the tablespoon of oil.

Season the pork chops on both sides and place them into the oil, turning them every 4 - 5 minutes and cook them until they are golden brown and cooked through.

Remove the pork chops from the skillet and drain them on a paper towel.

Cut the biscuits open with a sharp knife and add the pork chop. Enjoy!

Note: You can certainly use canned or frozen biscuits, just cut them open and add the pork chops. You can also add butter instead of the shortening in the biscuit recipe.

I like to serve these pork chop biscuits with a side of fried apples.

Looks delicious! Does anyone have a biscuit hack to prevent them from being so crumbly?
