Yellowstone 's highly anticipated finale is just a few months away, and star Cole Hauser is sharing some secrets about his filming preparation routine in a new interview.

When speaking about his workout habits with GQ , Hauser said he and his wife, actress Cynthia Daniel, work out every day. Hauser's sessions are usually separate from his wife's, as they're often more intense.

"She has her trainer , and I have mine. But my trainer is a pretty hardcore guy, so she’s like, 'I don’t know if I want to do that. Not that her training isn’t bada-- too. But they just talk a little bit more," he said. "But every day we’re doing something active and physical."

The couple's love of staying active dates back for "as long as [Hauser] can remember" and has spanned an array of workouts over the years. "It could be hiking , it could be running, it could be training in the gym," he said. But when it comes to blasting your core, Hauser swears by riding horses to get the best results.

"Horseback riding is an unbelievable workout," he stated plainly. "You want to get in shape? Go and ride a horse for a couple months. Core -wise, it’s the best workout you can have." He said as much when he spoke to Men's Journal back in 2022, saying "What riding ended up doing is strengthening my back and my core."

Hauser is no stranger to horseback riding , having grown up in the sport since he was a child. Of course, filming full seasons of Yellowstone on horseback is very different from your typical day spent riding.

"I grew up in Oregon riding, so from four to seven years old, I was on a horse. Now, doing Yellowstone for six months at a time, you get in horse-shape," he explained. When it's time to start filming the show, Hauser prepares his body by hopping on the horse and putting his rope to work.

"It’s just saddle time, man. You’ve got to get in there and do it. You’ve got to rope," he said when asked about his pre-filming prep. "There’s all these different disciplines that I need to be as good at as the character [Rip Wheeler] . There’s nothing to it but to do it."

"You’ve just got to get on the horse and spend a month. And the first two weeks suck—you’re sore , back hurts, arm hurts from roping, but those muscles turn back on, and the next thing you know, you can ride all day long," he added.

The second part of Yellowstone 's fifth and final season premieres Nov. 10 on Paramount Network.
