<div>Nearly every week, media reports of gun violence appear in newspapers, on television, and on the radio. Reports of shootings, illegal carrying of firearms, and illegal sales of firearms are the most frequent. Most reported shootings are fatal and are often the result of impulsive anger.Current proposals to address gun violence aren’t working. Community engagement is failing, law enforcement is on edge, and gun store owners have no incentive to help. So, elected officials need to adopt alternative versions of tougher laws. Our police officers must create more resources to protect innocent citizens from all forms of violence. Elected officials must change our culture and policies to end this cycle of violence as families, communities, and parts of the country witness or experience these terrible tragedies every day.Political representatives must act to combat this gun violence crisis. For example, gun violence prevention programs supported by legislation, policies and legal actions should be implemented in more communities.Dialogue between all races must continue to end gun violence. Responsible dialogue between gun manufacturers, stores, and lawful owners must be engaged more often to discuss solutions. It is unlikely that guns can be completely eradicated, but they should be harder to obtain.In the long run, it is up to our elected officials and police to make these changes, while ensuring safety. </div>
