<div>U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona has recognized five Gwinnett County public schools as National Blue Ribbon Schools for 2024. Among the select group of 356 schools nationwide are Brookwood Elementary, Craig Elementary, Trip Elementary, Hull Middle, and Twin Rivers Middle Schools. This recognition honors schools for outstanding academic performance or significant progress in closing achievement gaps among student groups. Notably, Gwinnett County Public Schools represent half of Georgia’s total Blue Ribbon Schools this year, with 10 in the state earning the designation.The principals of all five schools are proud of their students and staff. “Being named a Blue Ribbon School is a testament to the dedication, hard work, and collaborative spirit of our students, teachers, staff, and families," says Angie Wright, Principal of Craig Elementary School. “At Craig, we strive to create a learning environment that inspires excellence, and this recognition affirms that our commitment to every child’s success is making a lasting impact. We are incredibly proud of this achievement and grateful for our community’s unwavering support.”Dr. Lesley Hill, Principal of Trip Elementary, echoes Wright’s excitement: “The staff and students at Trip are thrilled with this award because they see the positive results of their hard work,” Dr. Hill Shares. “We’ve shown that not only can Title I students achieve at high levels, but many of our French Dual Language Immersion students are excelling while speaking and writing in French. I couldn’t be prouder! Now, the nation gets a glimpse of the consistent and persistent teaching and learning that happens daily at Trip.”Brookwood Elementary’s Principal, Karen Lillard, says the honor is humbling. “I am so proud of our students, staff, and families! Being named a 2024 National Blue Ribbon School is such an honor. This award highlights our commitment to excellence and the hard work of our school community. It’s a celebration for us all,” Lillard shares.Betsy Kelly, Principal of Twin Rivers Middle, agrees. “We are honored to be named a 2024 National Blue Ribbon School. This recognition reflects the dedication of our staff, the achievements of our amazing students, and the support of our families.
