In this country we discuss the issues around “entitlements” as if it were a bad thing. When we talk about reducing the national debt, social security and Medicare are always mentioned. These two programs are the only two that payment is taken directly from the individuals and in the case of Medicare the individual continues to pay while receiving benefits. Other programs such as this are social programs meant to be a stop gap for individuals not as a way to continue to live your life. This child care program as stated in the article was a result of the pandemic and was not designed to be there forever. As a grandparent I see first hand the struggles of young parents but as I remind my children, you can’t go through life expecting someone else to be responsible for your life or happiness. Sure I can help, but there are limitations and if they don’t meet your expectations, that’s not my fault. So why are people expecting taxpayers to fund their lives? I just don’t follow the logic.
