Ellen DeGeneres is done worrying about what other people have to say about her.

In her new stand-up comedy special on Netflix, the former talk show host spoke openly about the scandal that has plagued her life over the last few years, and how she is finally done listening to all the chatter.

During the comedy special, entitled Ellen DeGeneres: For Your Approval , the Finding Nemo alum addressed the scandal that encircled The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2020, including allegations that she produced a toxic workplace environment.

DeGeneres, once a TV icon , boldly declared, "I'm proud of who I've become," in the new show, also noting that she is "happy not being a boss or a brand or a billboard" anymore.

"[I’m] just a multifaceted person with different feelings and emotions, and I can be happy and sad and compassionate or frustrated," she went on to say. "I have OCD and ADD. I’m honest. I’m generous. I’m sensitive and thoughtful. But I’m tough and I’m impatient and I’m demanding. I’m direct. I’m a strong woman."

"So, after a lifetime of caring, I just can’t anymore. So I don’t," she added.

Speaking more directly about the scandal, DeGeneres said "the thought of anyone thinking that I'm mean was devastating to me," adding that the public's opinion of her "consumed" her for a long time.

She continued: "But with time, you gain perspective, which is one good thing about aging. With perspective, you realize that caring what people think, to a degree, is healthy. But not if it affects your mental health."

The stand-up special, which was filmed at the Orpheum Theatre in Minneapolis, Minn., was part of DeGeneres' Ellen's Last Stand...Up Tour that kicked off in the spring.

Her new and final special, Ellen DeGeneres: For Your Approval , is now streaming on Netflix.
